On 3/20/11, the Fruitport Township Fire Department held it's annual ice rescue training.  Fruitport Fire covers a portion of Spring Lake and used an area near Coops Dock and Deli as the site for this years training.  The department holds a minimum of one mandatory training per month on various topics.  Many trainings are hands on/scenario based such as this particular training, with a rescue scenario of two subjects that had fallen thru the ice.  The department uses four suits specifically designed for use in cold water rescues.
